Revelation
Posted on Thursday, 6 October 2005, 22:39J and I go to Ptown the same times every year: second week in July and the first weekend in October. We see pretty much the same people, one group in the summer, one in the fall, with some overlap. Generally, this is okay.
The last few years I’ve been a bit depressed about how not young I am, how much harder it is to stay in shape (and how much I hate the gym), how I can’t seem to stay awake or out as long as I used to. This trip I realized something else. My contemporaries are all getting older and droopier too. AACK.
In my teens I was the smallest guy in school. In my late twenties and thirties, I caught up a bit, but not much. In my forties, I’m loosing ground again. For me, I guess, that’s a good thing.
The weather on the Cape was perfect, btw. Sunny, comfortable days and cool jacket-friendly nights. Some people actually went to the beach, but walking to the beach in boots and jeans isn’t my idea of fun. I didn’t pack for the July weather we had.
I’m still working on the scarf.
