Opinions Accepted

J, my one and only, is not happy with the direction the Spring Scarf is going. Not that it’s his scarf, but as he’s a graphic designer and I am a lowly computer jock, his opinions on style carry some weight. If it weren’t for him, there would be nothing on the walls of this apartment. The walls would also still be white.

Try to imagine the Spring Scarf blocked, nice and flat with all the loose ends woven in. What do you think? Continue on? Or abandon in favor of a nice tube scarf (with eyelets, maybe, but basically 98% stockinette)? The yarn really needs large sections of stockinette to show off the fiber.

Those of you who have been at this longer than I (that would be 99.9% of you), well?

Oh, Gross!

Is there anything more disgusting than raw chicken? Probably, but raw chicken is as gross as I can allow in my kitchen. The slime.

My mom can cut up a whole chicken in five minutes. It takes me that long just to skin and debone one breast. At least, in 20+ years, I’ve gotten over my inclination to throw up.

Dinner, BTW, is chicken breasts marinated in yogurt and rosemary and baked in with a breadcrumb coating. With a side of spinach.

I understand the appeal of vegetarianism, but I don’t like most veggies. Cheese, cereal and beer probably don’t make a good diet.

Spring Scarf Progress

It’s a knitting weekend. I tried to make up the lost time on the Spring Scarf and tried my hand at some cable work. Here’s the scarf:

The color, for once, is fairly accurate, but the fabric has softer sheen in natural light. Unfortunately, this is only about a fifth of the length I want. I hope I finish it before it warms up too much in Lubbock.

The cables I found easier than I expected, even though I was using a fairly stiff, bulky wool. I have to try it with something more flexible.

We rented Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow Friday night. Jude Law is pretty and that’s about all that can be said for him in this movie. Angelina Jolie was the best part of the movie.

We rented The Bourne Supremacy last night. A good edge-of-your-seat movie. Matt Damon’s almost as pretty as Jude Law (his nose is too small and upturned) and he can act. He would have been a better Sky Captain.
