Practice Hat #1

practice_hat_001.jpeg

Hat for big head or big hair.

This is my first attempt (Dec ‘04-Jan ‘05) at a hat using leftover acrylic/wool practice yarn. I started on #5, 16″ circular needle, but switched to #5 dpn’s because the circular was too stiff and the stitches were coming out too tight. It looks okay, but it feels like shredded plastic bags.

It was destined for the Goodwill bag, but Andrea said she wanted it. And she wears it.

Snowing, Stock & Picasa

It’s still snowing.

I have made 5 qts of chicken stock. It is clear, but it will be clearer after it’s finished cooling in the fridge and I’ve filtered it again.

I downloaded Picasa this morning and it’s pretty cool. It found my pictures after I indicated where there were and added w/o a hitch. [The software looks originally in the My Pictures folder, but I refuse to use Microsoft's lame My Pictures or any of their other My folders. It's my computer; of course they're mine.]

Organizing photos is easy, but I’d like a hierarchical catagorization. Too many photos with too many categories and you’ll be scrolling back and forth forever.

I haven’t gotten any knitting done yet today.

Weather Report

The blizzard has set in. Double C%%P.

There goes the first snowplow.

Update

In two minutes, it’s become a snowstorm. Cr@p.

Intro

It’s 15°F and the snowflakes are beginning to come down. They will come down until there is a foot and a half of snow or so. It’s a shame it’s not a workday; we could leave work early. Instead, we’ll just sit around the condo and cook a pot of stock and knit and generally veg and bemoan the weather.

I don’t mind the snow while it’s coming down: I hate the cold and and the slush and the compacted snow/ice on the sidewalks.

Aargh.
